EQ2 or Bust?
The main thought in my bonnet today…. Everquest 2, and should I go back. My wife would call me “indecisive” but ive noticed that ive been looking away form WoW for a while. Still maintaining the guild but not actively playing like I used to. Seems real life sucks time out of the raider I used to be.
Playing LOTRO with Tracy at the mo, im lucky enough to have a wife who loves gaming, even more lucky to have one who likes to play the healer! I can pretty much cut loose and play what I want and I know she will be there to heal. With LOTRO we went the old standard, tank and healer. So she’s a minstrel.
She finds minstrel life tough to solo so she mostly waits till I get in to play, however ive still managed to pull away a little on levels, my 27 to her 25. LOTRO is a great fun game dont get me wrong, but it hasn’t got that “polish” that im looking for yet.
So Everquest got me interested again, now I havent played EQ2 for roughly 2 or 3 months, but all the hype surrounding the Aresai and the new expansion coming out has sort of spurred me on to actually levelling one of my characters to the fabled 70!. Ive got my Shadowknight on 59 and my Berserker on 47. Dont get me wrong I enjoy both, but im not sure what my guild needs endgame. Thats a bad thing, im not really the tanking type I prefer to damage. I know I should have picked a dedicated dps class then but I find SK and Zerk damage fine (last time I played)
Do I take the plunge that is EQ2 again? That would mean open subs for: WoW, LOTRO, DAoC, and Eq2 (although checking the sony website, seems i never closed it) not that I cant afford it, but will I play for a week or two before moving on, this is a pickle!

Funny you should be asking yourself this question… About 2 months ago I was in the EXACT same spot you are in. WoW was becoming boring to me… tried several new things (Vanguard and Eve to name a couple) … none of them really caught my attention. Differently from you, it had been about 20 months since I last played EQ2. I hooked up with EQ2 upon its release and played until shortly after WoW came out… Well, I cannot describe to you how happy I am that I returned. It seems that while I was gone, Sony fixed all of the big problems that I remember (and then some) and had added tons more content. (Most of this you would already know). The new free expansion is amazing and I am VERY anxious for the new expansion to come out towards the end of the year. All in all, I gotta say that EQ2 is the best thing on the market these days. Come on back, the water’s fine!

I too left the game for about a year and came back…huge difference. As far as I am concerned EQ2 Bridges the gap between dumbed down WOW and the insance grind that is Vanguard nicely….
I’d too did eve for awhile, didn’t strike my fancy..although I may jump ship again when Warhammer comes out…or might give tabla a ride too…
Bottom line, I doubt you’d be dissapointed if you came back

Take it from one who came to the Shattered Lands from old Norrath and never left. This game just gets better and better. Join us on Antonia Bayle, find a few like-minded friends and remain. I guarantee you won’t regret it!

Cheers for the replies guys. I have indeed returned to Norrath, albeit on a part time basis, currently on Runnyeye (im living in the UK)
Stay tuned for more EQ2 related ranting from me!

Not enough *pokes Sony* but it is nice to see. The content is now fantastic, the community is still great and the company can sometimes *looks at Langdale* be fun.
Look forward to hearing your decision.”

Welcome back to EQII, and I hope you’re having fun on the RE server! I used to branch off between WoW and EQII and delved into VG when it first came out, but in the end, EQII is my home. It just took a while to wait out the bumps and lumps.

WELCOME BACK CITIZEN! I, like many have tried all the new games that come onto the market thinking this is, perhaps, the next big thing. All of what I thought I could possibly want, but in the end it never is. The community of players is not the same, and for me, that is what always brought me back to EQ2.
The players I play with, and those I meet eberytime I log on… it is second to none. All are there tooffer a helping hand, or spell, or sword, or fists/claws.
This is my home, and I could not be more pleased….
