Im really contributing: Guild Level 52!

Posted in Everquest 2 on July 10, 2008 by Borgio

Ive made it a small mission to get the guild levelled.  Sure its a long process but the feeling of wellbeing when it does ding is immense.  Last night I saw we needed 10% to hit 52 and so hit the writs as I always do.  A few hours later it was guild ding 52 and woohoo.
My personal status in the guild is now approx 210k.  The most status I have ever given to a guild, the scary thing is that most of that is writ related.  I think I finished one whole heritage since being here.
My next aim is 300k personal status, it takes me about 30 mins per 6k so its not that bad to get really. If it helps the guild then im happy.

Another note is its my first “proper” T8 raid tonight!  I say proper since I have done a PUG SoH once and had to OT a bit but not much but tonight is THE night.
Im a little dubious about it though, im OT which suits me fine but im not sure about our MT.  Ive been in a couple of groups with him and I cant help but grab aggro from him (Hes a Guardian with Fabled Epic, and now Nathsar since last night) Im hoping that in the MT group when he has hate transfer and hate increase it will be enough, but surely with me as OT its almost as important for me to have these things too?  I will let you know how it goes but I can see me tanking a shed load of it.
Lets hope I can get some upgrades then roar!!!

Need to Focus!!!!!!

Its me being indecisive again.  On the one hand I love playing my zerk but cant drag myself to tank for PUGs (which I should do really… they arent all bad)
But then I discovered crafting isnt bad in small doses and so dinged my Provisioner from 23-29. Go me!

Lastly I rerolled my Brigand and started him again, I want to play one and now im over the hump its so much fun, the dps is great although im not sure if I can get used to trying to dps on a raid, time will tell on how I fare with it.

Only a short one today as I dont have much to say but my Brigand has dinged 34.  Go me!

Patience is a virtue.

Us camping in KC

Us camping in KC

As stated above, patience is indeed a virtue, and its something a lot of MMO gamers seem to have lost.
Back in the “old” days you used to know where a mob spawned and you would head there to kill it. Hell if it was down you used to sit there till it popped, sometimes up to 12 hours later. But it didnt matter to you since you wanted to kill that mob.
With the advent of some of the more popular MMOs I believe that people have forgotten how to be patient. This is leading to a lot of people becoming frustrated with some of the older MMOs when they need to camp for 10 minutes or so. This isnt right.
Why am I talking about this today then? Well last night in EQ2 a guild mate of mine collared me as soon as I logged on asking me to help him on a step of his epic. I say sure and he is ever greatful. What we needed to do was to go to karnors castle and kill ONE specific mob for an uncommon update. If the update didnt happen the first time then we camp it till it pops again and we kill it again. the respawn timer on this mob? 10 minutes.
Having come from UO and also DAoC (hello artifacts) both Mrs B and I are used to camping, hell we’ve done it for weekends on end before so we both had no qualms about camping this time. So we set about the night in earnest. Half an hour of camping and Flexsexy (the dirge we were camping for) had his update. He remarked how many groups have dissolved when required to camp a mob for an extended period and was happy to have us help.
If games stopped handing people things on a plate then I feel we would have a better playerbase. EQ2 does this right, the QQ WoW iz da bestest” crowd quickly get overwhelmed by the timers and leave meaning that the EQ players tend to be a lot more patient.
So what do we do when we are waiting on spawns? Easy, I crank on some tunes on my MP3, Mrs B and I talk to each other about day to day stuff and SHOCK HORROR we talk to the group mates, get to know them, tell jokes and listen to stories. THIS IS WHAT IS LACKING IN MANY MMOS TODAY!!! When was the last time in your PUG in WoW did you ask about your groupmates day? You just dont.

As long as Sony keep doing what they are doing I feel they will keep a loyal customer base in the years to come.
