Guild Ding level 50

Posted in Everquest 2 on June 27, 2008 by Berserk Rage

Well last night was a lot of fun.  After rolling my Brigand up to level 30, Mrs Borgio left to go to a party leaving me babysitting and also playing alone.
So I logged my zerk back on, and after reviewing a few things decided that if i wanted better dps, I better gear for it.
So 27p was spent on a set of DPS gear.  im happy to say it seems to be doing its job.  I was averaging 2.5k dps instead of 1.5k on mobs in Jarsath so im happy as a clam with that.  I even adorned some of it, imagine the horror!  Now all ill be working on is upgrades to both tanking and dps gear 🙂

We also managed to ding the guild level 50 last night, again it was my set of writs which did it.  50 isnt a major thing really  but for a guild just starting out again its great.  Im happy to announce that my personal status in the guild hit 100k so im dead chuffed with that.  Its the most ive ever contributed to a guild effort before.  Maybe it was because I was i na level 80 guild befor ethis so I didnt really need to grind status for anything muc.  But I find that in the evenings I have enough time to crack out 4 writs in Jarsath before Mrs B is ready to play which means I contribute.  my next step is to get 200k for myself 🙂

Plan for tonight? Not much since im now working 12 hour shifts and may not get home till late tonight, but if I find time to play I may throw an instance group together.  Still need last two steps of my epic too!!!!!

Rock on!!!

Yarr Im a Pirate!

Another night on EQ2 and its another night I kinda wish I rolled a useful class.  Berserker is great and all, for casual group play but if im ever going to see any sort of structured raid environment im going to need to roll something useful.
Stargrace was on hand, as usual, to help me in my choice.  I had it down to Dirge, Brigand and Assassin.  Now I like to see the big numbers and as Stargrace pointed out, Dirges arent major DPSers. This left Assassin and Brigand.  Well for now ive rolled both, above is my Brigand currently level 13!

Im on my way!

AoC: Level 30, EQ2: Fire and Ice quest fun!

Posted in Age of Conan, Everquest 2 on June 12, 2008 by Berserk Rage

Ill start this post today with AoC just simply because that was the first game I wrote in the title.
With Mrs B out at the cinema I had a free night to myself which meant I could get my head down and play Conan.  I was level 28 so decided to crack on and get as close to 30 (and the next destiny quest) as I could.

Starting out with the existing CImmerian quests I had I cracked on with them and blasted them all out.  I will add here that I think there are some bugs with the Death system.  Upon death you gain a debuff reducing melee and spell effectivness by 2% per death.  However grabbing your stone back fixes this.  I tend to use the death system as a speed transport system.  Honestly it seems that if I turn in a quest or two then my death penalties are erased!!!!  So I just nip all across the map turning in my quests as needed.

Soon though all the quests that I could do were done and headed off to Aquilonia to do a load there.  My tactic of grab every quest you see then do them all at once before turning in worked a treat and I was soon level 30.  I grabbed the next destiny quest but didnt do it.  Thus ended my night on Conan.

On to EQ2 talk now.  On Tuesday night my wife and I joined a new guild.  Once called Blood and Steel.  They came reccommended from my old guild leader Alariel as they are apparently run by an Ex Conclave member.  So we joined!  THe instant we go in they were running the Fire and Ice questline.  now both Mrs B and I had never done this so we went along, we didnt have the quest but I enjoy seeing content I have never seen, and Vision of Vox and the final boss were enjoyable. Mrs B even managed top DPS and top damage on the fight (yeah yeah yeah I DIED PULLING AGGRO I SWEAR)  The guild itself seems friendly enough, not as many top levels as I thought but beggars cant be choosers. Im going to try to get an epic weapon group running at some point.
Also Mrs B and I finished the Staff of the Observers Heritage.  I love doing Heritages since I can get free crap to stick on my walls.  The hardest part of this one was the language quest required since we needed the items EACH!  But max level chars and low level mobs = fast killing and we were soon done.  Pulling the final boss was great, he got burned down in about 6 seconds then the zerg came.  I loved it, I mustve pulled around  10k dps on the amount of mobs there Mrs B owned it too!!

So what for tonight then, well its a possible WoW night, I need to show my face there to stop people wondering where I am.  But then again I have more Heritages that wont do themselves on EQ2.  At this time, I just dont know!!!

Barbarian Level 13

Posted in Age of Conan on June 4, 2008 by Berserk Rage

Last night was MY NIGHT! My night to finally sit down and get to grips properly with Age of Conan.  Mrs Borgio safely ensconced in the bathtub meant I could use to time to play instead of her.

I logged onto my Barbarian who was level three at the time and cracked on with the initial quest to get to Tortage.  Once there I got inside and worked straight away on the Night quest line.  They were different to Mrs B’s quests which was great! I jsut wonder at the “feel” of the barbarian. Im a hulking piece of meat with a massive two handed sword… and yet im stealthing across rooftops, eavesdropping on conversations and not killing anything.  Ah well.

Eventually I got to the point where I needed to be X level to continue so a quick hop back to day time and I grabbed the MILLION or so quests and cracked some off.  Managed to get to 13 before bedtime but god did time fly.  Im loving the combos and the animations a constant 55fps even in town helps a lot of course.  Gotta love that Beast PC I built last year!

So plan for tonight then, get my Barb to 20 then try another class, maybe Conqueror!

WOOHOO!!

Im back baby!!!

It was 6pm,  little Borgio had spent the day learning to make on his own…. on the floor (go go potty training headaches) when he went up to bed.  I sat there staring at my Rock Band drum kit, thinking that once Mrs B had watched all of her programmes then I could crack on and bash seven bells out of them.  Then a thought struck me, “wouldnt it be great if the broadband was working”  I took a wander into the dining room and looked at the router.

One light…. two lights… THREE LIGHTS!!!!  OMG!  Do we finally have broadband, over two weeks after it was due?!!?!? Am I freaking dreaming?  I fire up firefox and point it to google… no problems there.  Maybe its a cached page…. better check something else.  The guilds website… WORKS!!  On goes the Conan patcher on both PCs.  Only a 650mb patch to do.

Ok so whats happened whilst I was away.  WoW guild struggling, looking to dedicate itself as a 10 man guild come WotLK.  Ventrilo server closed due to the period expiring. EQ2 offering amazing deals to return.  I was spoiled for choice of what to do.

I refrained from starting WoW. Part of me wants to step back and return come Wrath to see if I like it.  All of this time away has done me good.  The pressure of raiding lifted from me.  LOTRO is a draw to me still.  But ill need to free up some space for it since Conan ate my harddrive.  Im thinking of getting an external HDD for the purpose.  EQ2 is still kinda interesting to me since I have a lot I can do there.  Not to mention its raiding isnt bad.  EQ1 is having a resurgance too and I thought about trying my Berserker over there.  Except that last night was Conan night! My first Conan night ever!

I gleefully start the game on my PC since it finished patching first and I create my Barbarian!  The game is pretty, but my system struggles slightly with loading the graphics.  Its playable and runs smooth but the load times are long.  I got to level 3 before I called Mrs B over to see it.

I sat there…….. for an hour…… while she “created” her character….. I hate this part of games with her.  For me Ill do height, build and hair thats about it since you cover it all in armour anyway, but not her.  EVERY SLIDER MUST BE TWEAKED…. AT LEAST TWICE!  Eventually she settled on a Stygian Tempest of Set.  One because she always plays priests and also because it sounded sort of like a spellcastery priest.  So in game she goes on HER PC…. the one I spent a SHED load upgrading.  Fast load times, no stutter, constant 55-60 FPS even in town….. I am gobsmacked.

First thing she does is get naked since she wanted to see the underwear, she was surprised ill tell you that.  Then she proceeded through the jungle to Tortage.  Once shotting most mobs with her lightning spell and occasioanlly stabbing something if it didnt die in two bolts.  She pulled off a couple of lightning fatalities but to be honest I didnt see anything different.  It could of at least shocked the target to death and left a charred skeleton but ah well, maybe in time.
She then cracked off a few quests in Tortage that involved collecting healing herbs, stuffing them down a boys throat then finding a man on an island to heal too.  Im sure my Barbarian will have differing quests but I have to get her off my account long enough for me to see first!

Which begs the question, why didnt I get her her own copy?  Well for one I didnt know if she would be interested in it and I preordered my copy ages ago.  Ill let her carry on playing for a while and if she seems happy with it then ill get her a copy for herself.  It wil lhave to be HER copy since I have activated both my Preorder Mammoth and also Drinking Cape (oh yes!) on my account!

So last night was Mrs B Conan night, maybe tonight will be my go.  Maybe ill finally stop WoW till expansion.  Who knows.  Maybe EQ2 will yank me back, maybe LOTRO will (I know ill be playing LOTRO again soon) maybe ill keep my eye on WAR again to see how its coming along.

Its good to be back!
